2155 Schools That Will Not Reopen On Monday.
Listing of the 21,55 Schools Closed on Monday. About 2,155 schools will not be able to resume for the second semester on Monday, even though President William Ruto had ordered that classes start on May 13.
According to cabinet secretary for education Ezekiel Machogu, about 5% of schools are struggling as a result of flood damage. Particularly impacted are seven counties, namely Tana River, Homa Bay, and Kisumu.
These locations still require significant repairs before classes resume because of flood-related issues.
According to Machogu, the affected institutions are looking into other options to make sure kids don’t miss out on educational possibilities.
He emphasized the need for more efforts, especially at schools that make up less than 5%—possibly even less than 2%—of all the schools affected.
Due to heavy rains that delayed daily operations and damaged school facilities, the start of the second term was postponed indefinitely. Reopening on April 29 was the initial schedule.
2155 Schools On This List Won’t Reopen In order to make up for missed time, Machu announced on Monday that the second term would be prolonged by a few days, especially for Form 4 applicants. Preserving the essential hours of student-teacher interaction is the aim of this expansion.
According to Machogu, a comprehensive list of the affected schools is still being created and will be released to the public when it is.
President Ruto declared the reopening date after forecasts indicated that the rainy season had ended. He assured parents that the administration was prepared and asked them to get their children ready for school.
Interior Principal Secretary Raymond Omollo emphasized the necessity of activating regional administration representatives to oversee school safety, particularly in affected areas, in order to guarantee a smooth return of educational activities.
Government administration officials (NGAOs) at the county, regional, and national levels are spearheading this effort.
Furthermore, Omollo announced that students attending boarding schools will gradually return to their facilities starting on Monday.
