5 Kisumu Schools Were Not Able to Reopen Due To Flooding.
Flooding has prevented five Kisumu County schools from reopening for the second semester of instruction.
Rosemary Birenge, the county director of education, claims that the state of the schools is appalling.
According to Birenge, educators are currently visiting the impacted schools to determine the best ways to guarantee that students receive instruction.
“At this moment, I can confirm that four of our schools are not open to students,” she stated.
The schools that are impacted are in the recently established Kadibo subcounty.
These consist of Nyamrundu, Nyamasao, Oseth, and Odienya primary and secondary schools.
The schools are flooded due to the overflow of Lake Victoria.
After the floodwaters subsided, the other schools—which were also impacted by the breach in the Nyando River’s banks—are now dry.
But according to Birenge, all other schools have reopened with no problems noted.
She declared, “The rest of our schools have reopened without incident, and instruction is continuing as usual.”
