An Additional Mandatory Subject Added to the CBC Curriculum.
A new mandatory subject has been added to the CBC curriculum. Ezekiel Machogu, the cabinet secretary for education, believes that the performing arts should be required in the new curriculum.
Machogu emphasized that performing arts should be taught in pre-primary through higher education institutions since they are now part of the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC). While attending the Kenya National Drama Festivals at Kangaru Girls High School in Embu, he made this statement.
“We’ll even have learning materials in the CBC syllabus,” he declared.
Machogu continued by saying that all educational institutions mandate students’ participation in performing arts competitions.
According to Machogu, “performing art is not optional and the government is taking the matter seriously.”
The Cabinet Secretary noted that the Kenyan children deserved to be encouraged because they had talent in both music and theater.
“We are actively investing in performing arts in order to take advantage of the huge potential that exists in our country. Some of our young people might even go on to participate worldwide because of their extraordinary skill, according to Machogu.
Machogu observed that the children’s performances were getting better and urged the teachers to encourage them.

“Our children will go far, and our performance has greatly improved over the previous competition that was held in Mombasa,” he said.
Mr. Machogu exemplified how committed the government is to CBC’s prosperity for the sake of students and the country at large.
Machogu added that the government is resolved to build classrooms in primary schools and hire 20,000 teachers in junior schools in order to address the issue that is occurring in those schools.
Machogu claims that the government has set aside Sh. 9 billion for infrastructure development to expand the amount of area that can be used for schooling. The Sh. 9 billion will be considered in this year’s National Government Constituency Development Fund (NG-CDF).
Making Performance Arts Education Required in Schools
In order to allow lawmakers to use the funds to construct adequate classrooms for CBC students, he said, “NG-CDF will be increased.”
At Kangaru Girls High School, more than 23,000 educational institutions from all around the country participated the national event.
Tomorrow, April 18, the president William Ruto will host the occasion.
The CS and other guests gave Kamusinga High School a standing ovation after their fantastic performance.
