As schools resume, pray for the safety of the kids – Ruto.
As students return to class for the second term, President William Ruto has asked Kenyans to offer prayers for them.
On Monday, May 13, the majority of schools are scheduled to resume, with the exception of about 2,155 establishments that have been impacted by flooding.
Speaking during a Sunday worship at CITAM, Valley Road, Nairobi, Ruto stated that their intellectual and personal development should also be prayed for.
“Our children are opening school on Monday, tomorrow, I want you to pray over our children so that when they go to school, they’d be safe and they can get what education offers and be mentored into responsible citizens,” he stated.
The President added that despite the difficulties Kenyans are facing, “it is well” and that all will work out in the end.
Transport CS Kipchumba Murkomen encouraged parents to release their kids early for school the day before.
According to him, this is a method for them to contribute to their children’s safety so that the ministry can keep an eye on their school-related travels.
The CS gave an assurance that the government is making efforts to guarantee that no students perish on the roads and that there will be harsh enforcement measures to ensure that traffic laws are followed.
According to Murkomen, the Ministry of Interior is collaborating with the Ministry of Transport and has already instructed the National Police Service to provide roadside security.
Additionally, it has instructed traffic cops to watch out for the students as they travel.
“More than a million pupils are returning to school. Public transportation will therefore be under pressure. Unroadworthy vehicles will be observed by us,” he emphasized.
“We will be very tough because we want to make sure our people are safe.”
