CS Machogu promises that schools will not close due to lack of capitation.
To prevent operations from stopping, the government would make sure that capitation monies are released to schools on time, according to Cabinet Secretary for Education Ezekiel Machogu.
Speaking to the media yesterday, June 4, 2024, the CS disclosed that the lack of capitation funding will force the closure of either secondary or primary schools nationwide. “There aren’t any schools shutting due to low enrollment.
I want to reassure you that the Ministry was able to provide the 50% capitation that was needed for the current fiscal year last term, the CS stated.
He went on to reassure that any financial difficulties that schools could encounter are being actively addressed by the government.
Finding ways to guarantee that schools have the supplies they need to deliver high-quality instruction is part of this.
Many parents and educators who were concerned that schools would close owing to financial difficulties are relieved by Machogu’s pledge. Suppliers have put pressure on the majority of schools for payment defaults.
Concerned that the country’s education system, which primarily relies on capitation for day secondary schools, may suffer from delayed payouts.
Each learner is expected to receive KSh 22, 244 from the government each year, which is paid out in installments of 50% in the first term, 30% in the second term, and 20% in the third. For the previous two years, this has not been the case.
