CS Machogu Responds to Reports of Redeploying Teachers Across the Country.
On Tuesday, claims that the Ministry of Education intended to re-deploy all teachers utilizing a new system were denied.
The widely shared post, which the Ministry has subsequently highlighted, stated that the redistribution would take place according to the topic combination.
A new classification of schools as STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) centers, humanities and arts schools, and creative arts and sports schools was first announced by the Ministry.
However, the post that was highlighted stated that further county schools would be classified as centers for the creative arts and sports, and that national schools would be designated as STEM centers.
The fictitious post further asserted that county schools would be designated as arts and humanities schools.
“The data presented therein is inaccurate. Disregard the unwelcome hints,” the Ministry of Education stated.
After worried Kenyans questioned the veracity of the stories, which caused a stir on social media, the Ministry corrected the information.
Social media users became curious when the phony content used the logo of a well-known media outlet to make it seem more credible to them.
Belio Kipsang, the principal secretary for education, declared on April 25 of this year that the government intended to eliminate the national classification system for schools.
Speaking at the Innagural Annual Symposium on Competency-Based Assessment, Kipsang announced that the ministry would no longer classify schools as belonging to national, extra-county, county, or sub-county categories.
As per the PS, the combination of subjects given in an institution would be used to identify senior schools, and the primary basis for categorization would be the institution’s infrastructure.
National schools would offer STEM topics because of their superior facilities, whilst the sub-county was well-positioned to offer a mix of disciplines.
