CS Machogu; Second-term capitation to be released this month.
Ezekiel Machogu, the cabinet secretary for basic education, has declared that schools will get capitation for a second term in June.
Launching the fourth National Education Sector Strategic Plan 2023–27, Machogu gave a speech on Thursday.
“Our efforts to guarantee that second term capitation will be released this month are doing well. Since both primary and secondary schools received 50% capitation, no school will close,” he stated.
According to the CS, schools got 50% of the anticipated total capitation in two batches during the first term.
According to Machogu, schools could anticipate a 30% capitation rate in the upcoming session.
“The final term which will be the third term we will be able to give the remaining 20 per cent,” he stated.
Machogu further refuted reports that universities around the nation are struggling with a Sh29 billion cash shortage.
Before the end of the fiscal year, colleges will receive additional capitation, according to the CS.
“Universities are not experiencing any issues of this nature. If there is one area in which the government has excelled in providing capitation, it is our colleges. Going forward, we will also issue additional capitation before the end of the fiscal year, according to Machogu.
“We have not had any problem as far as our release of capitation for universities is concerned.”
Furthermore, according to Machogu, the administration has obtained funding for the construction of junior secondary school classrooms.
“We have released some money, Sh3.5 billion and early next financial year we will release more,” he stated.
It is safe to assume that we are off to a comfortable start. We plan to finish the first round of classes in four months, and we’ll begin the second round in roughly two.”
According to Machogu, the ministry will have made use of 16,000–18,000 classrooms by the end of the year.
All resources provided to the ministry will be used for their intended purposes, according to the CS.
