Good News for Teachers in Stalls Who Didn’t Receive Promotions.
The Kenya Union of Post Primary Education Teachers (KUPPET), which claims that justice was not given priority, has taken another significant step to achieve equity, which is a comfort to stagnant teachers who were left out of the recently published promotions.
As per KUPPET, the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) of the government is compelled to expedite teacher promotion matters and guarantee that teachers who are eligible for promotion receive it.
On Tuesday, KUPPET Secretary General Akello Misori made it clear that if the TSC does not take their requests into consideration, they will call for a statewide teacher strike.
According to Akello, the strike is intended to pressure the TSC to expedite teacher promotions across the nation in the event that union demands are not met.
The KUPPET secretary added that the TSC needs to be explicit about the fact that some teachers have been left out of advancements for years while remaining in the same job category.
He went on to discuss the depressing situation that teachers are currently in—they have been stuck in one job group for years and have missed promotions.
Misori claims that a number of the instructors whose names were recently elevated by TSC have since passed away or retired, leaving a large number of teachers who are eligible for promotion unconsidered.
