Govt Releases Guidelines for Class Hours Ahead of Schools’ Reopening.
Despite the longer closure that was required due to the flooding, Belio Kipsang, Principal Secretary of Education, has instructed schools to stick to the academic calendars that were previously established by the Ministry.
Rather than that, Kipsang instructed school leaders to create a strategy to make up for the time lost when schools were delayed in reopening.
In case the continuous, intense rains around the country have an impact on education, the Ministry has also ordered schools to modify their class schedules.
However, when it comes to school transportation, schools have been told to stick to the 6 am to 6 pm restrictions.
Following Ezekiel Machogu, Cabinet Secretary for Education, remarking that the government would think about extending the second term due to the prolonged closure, the PS issued its most recent decree.
He had hinted that in order to meet the syllabus’s coverage, the administration would think about shortening the August holiday by a few days.
“The protracted closure of schools began two weeks ago. We’ll examine it, especially with regard to Form Four students, and see if we can salvage the situation by extending the period by a few days,” Machogu said on Thursday.
However, it was disclosed that the most recent modifications were implemented at the behest of education stakeholders who pointed out that shortening the term two holiday dates would interfere with the August music festival.
Monday, May 13, marks the return of schools following their forced closure due to flooding.
After six weeks of instruction, students will take a half-term holiday from June 20 to June 23.
On August 5, students will return for the second part of the second term. Three weeks are planned for the August holiday.
On Monday, August 26, classes will resume nationwide for the third semester.
