How Students in the Current CBC Curriculum Will Be Placed in Universities.
The 2-6-6-3 method is used in Kenya’s competency-based curriculum (CBC) structure, enabling students to advance to the university level of study.
With the new CBC education system, students can spend two years in pre-primary, six more years in primary school, and six more years in secondary school—that is, three years in junior school and three years in senior school—while those who choose to continue their education at a university will only need to devote three years.
Similar to the former 8 4 4 System of education, university education is the highest level offered by CBC institutions.
The nation has shifted its focus to the new Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC), which has introduced a revolutionary approach to the educational system.
To many, though, the question of whether CBC students will ultimately use this system to pursue further education remains.
Thankfully, CBC has a lot going for it over the old 8-4-4 system.since it seeks to impart greater advantages to students through its primary core competencies.
Competency-based curricula place more emphasis on students’ abilities than on their knowledge and the teacher’s knowledge base.
Each student’s potential or abilities are recognized and developed by the system, which helps them go through various educational and developmental phases.
The new CBC educational system makes sure that students understand the basic curriculum in addition to conducting research and pursuing their own interests, in contrast to earlier educational systems that solely cared about winners and losers.
The glaring distinctions between CBC and 8-4-4
To fully understand the benefits of the new system, one must recognize the glaring differences between the 8-4-4 and CBC systems.
