How to Apply for TSC advertises 20,000 internship posts primary, JSS teachers.
Twenty thousand teacher internship positions for junior secondary and primary schools have been posted by the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) (JSS).
In an effort to promote the implementation of Competency Based Curriculum, the Commission announced in an advertising published by Education News that 18, 000 certified teachers will be posted in JSS and 2,000 in primary schools.
Additionally, starting on July 5, 2024, TSC plans to engage 26,000 senior interns on Permanent and Pensionable (PnP) terms.
In order to facilitate the implementation of CBC, the Teachers Service Commission is seeking applications from suitable applicants for 20,000 teacher internship positions, of which 18,000 are in junior secondary schools and 2,000 are in primary schools.
A portion of the release states, “TSC also invites the 26,000 senior interns to fill permanent and pensionable letters.”
The Commission declared that qualified and interested candidates must apply online by July 18, 2024, using teachersonline.tsc.go.ke or the TSC’s official website, www.tsc.go.ke, under the “Careers” section. Among the requirements set forth by the Commission for JSS recruitment are Kenyan citizenship, a minimum of a diploma in education with a mean grade of C+, a C+ in each of the two KCSE teaching courses, and registration as a teacher with the TSC.
Likewise, candidates for primary schools need to be Kenyan citizens, hold a P1 certificate, and be registered with the Commission.
Teachers holding an Upgrade Diploma in Primary Teacher Education are encouraged to apply for these positions, as TSC will take them into consideration.
A copy of the teacher registration certificate from the TSC online portal, a copy of the national ID card of the National Council for Persons with Disability (NCPWD), a copy of the National Health Insurance Fund (NHIF) card, and a copy of the Kenya Revenue Authority Personal Identification Number (KRA PIN) will all be needed for verification.
According to TSC, the internship program will run for a year with the goal of preparing and sustaining the competencies of those who plan to enter the teaching profession.
It is intended for registered instructors who are unemployed and will be placed in educational institutions based on their teaching background. Intern teachers assigned to primary schools will receive a monthly stipend of KSh20,000, while those placed in JSS would receive KSh25,000.
The stipend will be provided subject to statutory deductions, where appropriate. After completing the internship program successfully, they will receive certificates.
The Commission has declared that there would be no fees associated with the recruitment process.
The announcement follows shortly after TSC Chairman Dr. Jamleck Muturi John disclosed that the Commission will post 20, 000 internship teacher positions in July during his speech at the 47th Kenya Secondary Schools Heads Association (KESSHA) Conference and Exhibition, which was held at Sheikh Zayed Hall in Mombasa.
The chairman stated that by September, the teachers will begin reporting to their individual work stations.
