Salaries of JSS Teachers After All Deductions. A pay increase will be given to the 46,000 Junior Secondary School (JSS) intern teachers who have been approved by the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) for Permanent and Pensionable periods (PnP).
For the past three weeks since classes resumed for the second term, the interns have been performing demos.
They were complaining about the low remuneration of KSh20,000 for junior school and KSh15,000 for lower elementary students who received no allowances. At last, people will be giggling at the banks to get better checks.
Upon confirmation on PnP, those with degrees and diplomas will begin working at job Group C2, which is similar to a senior primary school teacher.
According to the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) 2024/2025, which will go into effect on July 1, 2024, the pay for Job Group C2 ranges from KSh38, 286 to a maximum of KSh47, 858.
The starting wage for a newly hired teacher is KSh38, 286; after three years, the income will automatically increase.
Salaries of JSS Teachers After All Deductions
In terms of benefits, C2 instructors in Nairobi are eligible for KSh16,500 in housing allowance.
While those in other places receive a housing allowance of KSh7,500, those in big municipalities will receive KSh12,800, while those in minor municipalities would receive KSh9,600.
Additionally, C2 instructors are eligible for a commuting allowance of KSh5,000 and a yearly leave allowance of KSh6,000, which is paid once.
Employees in underprivileged areas are also eligible for a KSh10,900 hardship grant.
In addition, the instructor will profit from the health insurance plan that their work offers.
Statutory deductions including PAYE, NSSF, and the recently introduced SHA will apply to all salaries.
