The two certificates being important documents, sometimes it may be unfortunate to loss or damage any one of them hence need to replace them vital documents.
It is worth noting that Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) has clearly streamlined the process for replacing lost or damaged certificates,a process that ensures smooth and efficient experience for all applicants.
Through the KNEC’s online portal and the Query Management Information System (QMIS), currently the replacement of certificates has been made easy.
Using the online portal , affected applicants can smoothie initiate the certificate replacement process from the comfort of their homes.
Among the important documents needed to initiate the replacement process, include ;
- A valid copy of the lost certificate or result slip
- An affidavit
- The registrar of persons confirmation
- A Police abstract indicating that the certificate is lost
- The clear Photocopies of ID or a Passport photo
- A clear letter of completion or recommendation letter from an institution.
Upon getting the above necessary documents an applicant can proceed to file an application through the QMIS portal.

It is important to create QMIS account incase you lack one
While registering for this new account you need to enter all your personal details, such as full name, your mobile number, a postal address as well as an email address.
After successful registration, you will get your login credentials through email.
Once you have filled in the required areas in the application form, then log in to the QMIS portal so as to access lost certificate section.
Key in your index number, your exam details plus other relevant information.
You are also required to attach the required documents to submit your application.
KNEC then do a verification of your documents and provide you with payment details once you have made payments.
Replacement of lost certificate coats an applicant a total of Sh5,220 which is inclusive of VAT.
KNEC commences immediate processing your application upon correct submission of details.
Note that duplicate certificate is typically ready for collection within 15 working days.
