KNUT Demands Psychosocial Assistance for Students Affected by Floods.
It has been questioned if measures have been made to resume physical education and provide psychosocial support for flood-affected children.
The Kenya National Union of Teachers (KNUT) secretary general, Collins Oyuu, has underlined how crucial it is for schools to have counseling departments in order to assess students’ wellbeing.
He made the argument that certain pupils might need emotional and psychological care because they come from families that have suffered loss.
He argued in favor of a phased reopening for those who might not be able to go back to school on Monday.
The official national death toll from the devastating floods that have devastated most of Kenya is now 257 after 19 more individuals lost their lives in the previous 24 hours.

According to Mwaura, there is still flooding in most of the nation, and 31 counties are expected to continue to see severe rains and thunderstorms based on the most recent weather forecast.
He mentioned that the Lake Victoria Basin, the Rift Valley, the Central, and the Eastern regions are among those that are impacted.
Furthermore, there will be sporadic downpours in Nairobi and the coastal area, which will affect the counties of Tana River, Kwale, Mombasa, Kilifi, and Lamu.
Furthermore, 11, counties’ worth of health facilities have suffered damage from the floods, and 9,816 acres of crops have been completely destroyed.
