KNUT informs MoE to release capitation schools to facilitate learning.
The Ministry of Education (MoE) has been requested by the Kenya National Union of Teachers (KNUT) to release capitation monies to schools as soon as possible.
In order to avoid disruptions in school operations, Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Mochugu should accelerate the payout, stressed Aggrey Namisi, the union’s national second vice chairman.
Namisi discussed the difficulties that have been plaguing schools around the country in recent months as a result of funding delays in an interview with Education Newspaper.
He asked the MoE to give capitation fund distribution first priority in order to guarantee the seamless operation of educational institutions.
Namisi also urged school authorities not to expel pupils for not paying their tuition. Aware of the financial burden that many parents bear, he underlined the necessity of government involvement to guarantee that schools can function without interference.
