KUCCPS 2024 placement: More boys get university slots, while girls dominate TVETS.
According to the 2024 placement results from the Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS), more boys than girls have obtained spots in universities for degree courses.
The KUCCPS announced the placement results on Tuesday at the College of Insurance.
“Male applicants continued to dominate placement to Degree programmes, sustaining a trend that has been observed since the beginning of the central placement system,” Agnes Mercy Wahome, the chief executive officer of KUCCPS
“In contrast, female students were the majority of those placed in TVET, from the 2020/2021 Cycle to the present.”
Another notable aspect of the 2024 placement was that the Bachelor of Education program attracted the highest number of candidates.
KUCCPS said that 85 percent of 2023 KCSE candidates with C+ or higher applied for courses.
According to KUCCPS, 76.2 percent of those who applied for courses chose Degrees, while the remaining 11,991 chose Diplomas.
During the 2023 KCSE Examination, 899,453 applicants took the exam.
According to KUCCPS CEO Agnes Mercy Wahome, KMTC placement results were issued to institutions slightly earlier than those for colleges and TVETS.
KMTC accepted new students in March.
“KUCCPS released KMTC placement to the institution so that it could accept admissions for the March intake. Similarly, KUCCPS has given TVET placement data to TVET institutions for May admissions,” Wahome stated.
She stated that the placement is guided by the Placement Policy and Processing Procedure.
The applicant’s selections, merit (qualifications), and approved capacities are the most important factors to evaluate.
Affirmative action is used for women, people with disabilities, and marginalized communities.
