Kuccps 2024 TVET courses on High Demand for students below C+.
When the 2023 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) for 2024 placement results were released, information revealed that over 580,000 KCSE students with a C- or lower were awaiting the chance to enroll in artisan courses and Kuccps TVET Certificate programs.
Students can select courses based on cluster points because the Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) regularly publishes a list of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) courses.
In addition, Kucps cluster points represent the highest number of points needed in a particular cluster (usually four topics) in order to be admitted to a program; this is in contrast to the exam results of the top students in the KCSE.
The placement service points out that 11 TVET colleges approved by KUCCPS provide certificate and artisan degrees.
When it comes to applications, business, building and construction, and engineering technology are the most popular courses.
However, there was a strong demand for courses in business, including those in store keeping, accounting technician, secretarial studies, office administration, supply chain management, human resource management, front office operations, and housekeeping.
A grade of E is required for admission to these courses, and the average yearly cost is Ksh60,000.
Under the Building and Construction category, schools such as Kisumu, Kitale, Meru, Sigalagala, and Bungoma polytechnics offer accredited courses in Building Technology, Masonry, Building Artisan, Land Survey, and Land Surveying Artisan.
Additionally, Eldoret, Sigalagala, Kisumu, Kitale, and Nyeri provide Engineering Technology courses with 25 authorized certificates covering Electrical Installation, Electrical Wireman, Electrical and Electronics, and Automotive Engineering.
Om Information Technology Courses: The annual enrollment fee for these programs is Ksh67,000. Approved courses in this category include Artisan in Information Communication Technology, ICT Artisan Level 4, ICT Technician Level 4, and National Vocational Certificate in Education and Training (NVCET) Certificate in ICT.
Enrollment in courses related to hairdressing and beauty therapy requires a minimum KCSE grade of E.
Many TVET institutions, including Bureti, Bushiangala, Bomet, Gatundu, Ikutha, Kaelo, Kakrao, Karumo, and Chuka, among many others, are accepting applications and enrollments for these courses.
2024: Students below C+ are in high demand for TVET courses.
