KUCCPS issue university and college placements for 2024.
The Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service will reveal university and college placements for KCSE students who took the exam last year.
Cyrus Gituai, Chairman of the KUCCPS Board, stated that the available capacity in higher education institutions exceeds the number of students who will take the KCSE in 2023.
He assured that no learner will be denied placement owing to capacity.
“The total available capacity for training declared by Universities and Colleges was 1,078,806 which by far exceeds the total number of students who did KCSE last year,” Gituai stated.
He stated that KUCCPS has a statutory obligation to assign KCSE finalists to Universities and Colleges based on merit and their choices, while maintaining fairness and equity in an efficient manner.
Gituai stated that the Board has established strong policies and internal control procedures to ensure that the placement process is transparent, efficient, fair, and equal.
The Service is responsible for disseminating information about various programmes, their expenses, and the government’s priority areas of study.
The mandate includes collecting statistics on university and college placement, developing career programs for students, and advising the government on placement matters.
As of February 25, Education Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu revealed that 60.8% of all candidates who received university entry grades have applied for courses through KUCCPS.
“As of February 25, 2024, 121,391 applicants who scored C+ or higher in the 2023 KCSE Examination had applied for various courses. This represents 60.8% of the 199,695 Kenyan people who received a mean grade of C+ or higher in the 2023 Examination,” Machogu stated.
During the 2023 KCSE Examination, 899,453 applicants took the exam.
