NTSA Lists School Bus Requirements That Must Be Met.
With the reopening of educational institutions, the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) has released a list of regulations for school buses.
The NTSA stated in a notice that fictitious speed limiters are supposed to be installed on all school buses. In order to track vehicle speed, the speed limiters must also be integrated with the NTSA Intelligent Road Safety Management System (IRSMS).
All of the cars must also have current Road Service Licenses (RSLs) and valid inspection certificates.
It is also expected that the automobiles have current auto insurance.
Additionally, the NTSA stated that it anticipated the cars to have functional seatbelts that children could use to get to and from school.
In addition to the buses, the NTSA stated what was required of drivers, one of which was a valid driver’s license. Additionally, the class endorsement must be compatible with the car being driven.
For example, drivers who can only operate saloon vehicles shouldn’t operate buses.
Additionally, a current Public Service Vehicle (PSV) badge is required for the drivers.
The authorities also issued a warning to schools about disobeying the vehicle capacity limit. The NTSA declared that overcrowding schools would face consequences.
Targeted PSVs are those that overburden pupils with work during this back-to-school season.
According to the NTSA, the National Police Service (NPS) and continuing nationwide inspections will determine whether the rules are being followed.
“The management of the school shall implement steps to guarantee complete compliance with the PSV laws and the requirements of the Traffic Act.
A portion of the statement said, “We urge all motorists to be cautious and mindful of other road users as children go back to school.”
