Nyamira MCA needs assurances on security prior to tomorrow’s school reopening.
Duke Masira, the MCA for Nyamira Township Ward, has advised the government not to open schools on Monday until the safety levels have been confirmed.
Speaking at Nyamira County’s Igucha Primary School, Masira expressed her concern about how schools could open in the face of widespread dread and panic among parents, educators, and students.
She said that the nation is still in grief for those who lost their lives in the erratic floods that devastated numerous regions of the nation.
“Allow the government to guarantee our kids’ safety at school by providing us with regular updates on the condition of the persistent heavy precipitation,” he proposed, citing Igucha Primary School as an example, where a single classroom was demolished and the playground was submerged in water.
Rather than providing the public confusing directions, he urged the Ministry of Education (MoE) to communicate with the media to keep them informed.
