Schools Re-Open Today After 2 Postponements.
Following two delays due to flooding, classes in the majority of public schools across the country are scheduled to start again on Monday for the second semester.
Concerns regarding the state of the learning environment and infrastructure have led parents to worry about their children’s safety.
Ezekiel Machogu, the cabinet secretary for education, assured that on that day, schools should guarantee student safety during pick-up and drop-off by giving school drivers precise instructions and designating teachers to supervise.
While 95% of schools are prepared to start up again for the second semester, the CS stated that in order to protect children’s safety, the situation at some educational facilities throughout seven counties is being investigated.
He stated that in order to prepare for the reopening of the schools, the Ministry is working with other government authorities to repair the damaged facilities.
