Teachers must participate in the TSC Mandatory Retooling Program.
Teachers Must Complete TSC-Mandated Retooling Program. Important suggestions for retraining educators have been made by the Presidential Working Party on Education Reforms (PWPER) Report, especially as Kenya moves toward a competency-based curriculum (CBC).
PWPER is in favor of a one-year required retooling program to guarantee CBC compliance for all pre-service training graduates, as there are just five classes left in the 8-4-4 system.
It also recommends a one-year internship program that must be completed after pre-service training in order to draw in, train, and keep qualified teachers.
In order to successfully implement the Common Core State Curriculum (CBC), the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has adopted a multi-agency strategy to retooling, with the goal of retooling at least 229,000 primary school teachers and 55,125 junior secondary school teachers.
This endeavor accounts for 82% of all instructors employed, and all educators will continue to receive training.
Additionally, TSC has benefited 163,938 teachers by introducing remote learning as a novel approach to curriculum implementation.
Mr. Cheruiyot emphasized the value of highlighting the professional competence, involvement, and effective curriculum implementation of teachers. He emphasized that in order to deal with the dynamic nature of education, lifelong learning beyond pre-service preparation is necessary.
There will be more of an impact on educators and students as the nation adopts constant retooling, which will ultimately advance national development.
CBC strongly believes that using new technology is essential to delivering curricula in an efficient manner. TSC is dedicated to assisting initiatives that reduce educational disparities and promote STEM education, such those run by CEMASTEA.
In order to encourage more students to pursue STEM subjects, teacher Loice Owade underlined the importance of upgrading instruction.
She emphasized how crucial it is for JSS teachers to undergo career advice training in order to provide them with the skills needed to educate their students about the realities of the job market and educational needs.
Ms. Owade underlined that students and ignorant parents shouldn’t be the only ones giving job advice. Instead, in order to properly mentor students, career teachers need to possess the necessary knowledge and abilities.
