TSC intends to make a Diploma Certificate the mandatory educational background for all instructors, including those pursuing ECDE certification training, in compliance with the most recent plan.
The Commission requires all new hires to have a minimum of a C and a D in mathematics.
TSC also aims to guarantee that all instructors receive at least a C- in English.
Although it supports the decision, the TSC stated that the goal of the policy is to enhance candidates’ performance in the national tests.

Educating New Entry Grade Disclosures
“We’re talking to the Ministry about the teachers who are presently enrolled in colleges, and it’s possible that they don’t meet the requirements,” said Nancy Macharia.

The commission claims that these changes will encourage professionalism in the sector and draw in more participants.
Deregistration of instructors involved in significant violations, such as extramarital affairs, is one of the proposed adjustments.
Furthermore, the commission committed to promoting 36,505 teachers by the end of 2024, taking into account that Ksh1 billion had been set aside by the government for the same purpose in the 2024–2025 budget year.
Conversely, some have criticized the Commission for some of the reforms that have been suggested, arguing that it does not have the authority to implement them.
