Teachers slated for promotions are listed by TSC for the upcoming promotion interviews.
Teachers Are Expected to Advance, The Kenya Union of Post Primary Education Teachers has made several demands to the TSC.
Demands are related to promotions. The union has petitioned TSC to elevate more than a thousand instructors who have been forced into the same work groups.
These teachers have worked in one job area for more than ten years.
The KUPPET secretary general, Akello Misori, has underlined the necessity of these instructors receiving automatic promotions in the future.
The secretary general voiced his disapproval of the advancements given to these teachers.
He verified that these teachers had never been promoted, despite the fact that they have been attending promotions. This happens even when they follow the career development guidelines (CPG).
He went on to explain that several of these professors had tried two or three failed interviews. The educators on this list were previously with job group M, which is now C5.
The list also includes teachers in job group C3, which was formerly known as job group L.
A List of TSC Teachers Expecting Promotions After Stalling
During their five-day retreat in Naivasha, the KUPPET secretary general shared these ideas. They were accompanied by the technical team and TSC representatives.
This meeting was requested by TSC. This was in reaction to multiple questions from KUPPET concerning the promotion list that was made available to the public during the promotion process the year before.
The promotion list caused many people to question why several worthy professors were left off of the list.
Misori publicly questioned the promotion list during her speech. Upon reviewing the promotion list, TSC found that fourteen of the promoted teachers had passed away.
Misori continued by saying that a large number of curriculum support officers—technically not teachers—had been promoted.
The list also includes a number of TSC secretariat staff members who gained from the promotions. This happens even though the promotions were only meant for teachers.
The union produced a list of a thousand teachers who had been with the same work group for more than ten years.
The union asked for these instructors to be promoted immediately. On the TSC website, you may see the list of these educators.
During the discussion, the union made the case for equitable teacher progression and the elimination of CPG.
