TSC Hardship Areas and Appropriate Hardship Allowance for Each Grade 2024.
Depending on their job category and years of service, Teachers Service Commission (TSC) employees are eligible for a variety of benefits, one of which is a special hardship stipend.
Teachers’ hardship payment, a unique stipend available solely to individuals employed in designated hardship zones, is paid by TSC.
Teachers working in these challenging areas face a range of challenges, such as water scarcity, recurring flooding, and unfavorable living conditions brought on by a high frequency of criminal attacks.
The TSC hardship stipend is distributed differently among groups or teacher grades; instructors who were employed more recently receive a smaller benefit than those who have served longer.
Decentralization of resources has led to a notable increase in the provision of social facilities and all-weather roads in certain locations, but it has also resulted in the modification of certain areas and the loss of others.
After reviewing the hardship allowance in December 2014, the Salaries and Remuneration Commission (SRC) decided to set a fixed amount for all comparable grades and work categories. The Commission later reversed this decision.
After the review, the largest allowance—38,100 shillings—is currently given to people in administrative positions, especially those in Job category D5, which includes chief principal positions.
According to TSC , several areas considered difficult are those which are vulnerable to;
- terrorism
- starvation
- aridity among others.
There were a total of 38 areas as hardship areas under which, those teachers who work in schools situated in these counties get monthly hardship compensation.
Important to note also is that hardship allowance given to teachers in various counties are currently under review by the Salaries and Remuneration Commission (SRC).
