1. Primary Teacher II (T-Scale 5)
Entry Grade for Primary School Teachers
Requirements
- KCSE minimum mean Grade C (Plain) or equivalent qualifications
- Primary Teacher Certificate (PTE) or its approved equivalent
- Registered as a teacher with a valid Teaching Certificate
- Compliant with Chapter Six of the Constitution
- Any other requirements deemed necessary by the Commission
2. Primary Teacher I (T-Scale 6)
Promotion Grade for Primary School Teachers
Requirements
- Minimum three years as Primary Teacher II (T-Scale 5)
- Satisfactory performance appraisal rating
- Completion of relevant Teacher Professional Development (TPD) modules
- Valid Teaching Certificate
- Mastery in class management
- Compliant with Chapter Six of the Constitution
- Any other requirements deemed necessary by the Commission
3. Senior Teacher II (T-Scale 7)
Entry to Administrative Cadre, Promotion Subject to Vacancy
Requirements
- Minimum three years as Primary Teacher I (T-Scale 6)
- Satisfactory performance appraisal rating
- Completion of relevant TPD modules
- Ability to supervise, mentor, and support other teachers
- Valid Teaching Certificate
- Compliant with Chapter Six of the Constitution
- Any other requirements deemed necessary by the Commission
4. Senior Teacher I (T-Scale 8)
Promotional Grade for Primary School Administrators
Requirements
Minimum three years as Senior Teacher II (T-Scale 7)
- Satisfactory performance appraisal rating
- Completion of relevant TPD modules
- Ability to supervise, mentor, and support other teachers
- Valid Teaching Certificate
- Compliant with Chapter Six of the Constitution
- Any other requirements deemed necessary by the Commission
5. Deputy Head Teacher II (T-Scale 9)
Promotional Grade for Primary School Administrators
Requirements
Minimum three years as Senior Teacher I (T-Scale 8)
- Satisfactory performance appraisal rating
- Completion of relevant TPD modules
- Valid Teaching Certificate
- Ability to supervise, mentor, and support other teachers
- Compliant with Chapter Six of the Constitution

6. Deputy Head Teacher I (T-Scale 10)
Promotional Position for Primary Institution Administrators

Minimum three years as Deputy Head Teacher II (T-Scale 9)

Minimum three years as Deputy Head Teacher II (T-Scale 9)
- Bachelor of Education degree or equivalent

- Valid Teaching Certificate
- Ability to supervise, mentor, and support other teachers
- Compliant with Chapter Six of the Constitution

8. Senior Head Teacher (T-Scale 11)
Promotional Position for Senior Administrators
Requirements
Minimum three years as Head Teacher or Deputy Head Teacher I (T-Scale 10)
- Bachelor of Education degree or equivalent
- Satisfactory performance appraisal or performance contracting rating
- Completion of relevant TPD modules
- Valid Teaching Certificate
- Ability to supervise, mentor, and support other teachers
- Compliant with Chapter Six of the Constitution
- Any other requirements deemed necessary by the Commission
