TSC launches exclusive tools for hiring on the recruitment portal by 2024.
TSC unveils novel features for recruitment, one day after declaring that 20,000 positions for student teachers in primary and junior secondary schools (18,000 and 2,000) would be open.
On the recruitment webpage it manages for its organization, the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has incorporated two unique aspects.
The edit button has been activated by TSC, allowing applicants to modify the sub-county in which they want to apply for openings.
It was found during a spot check by our team that candidates were limited to two choices.
This occurred in spite of the commission’s encouragement for applicants to select just one county.
The commission included a new button called “Ethnicity” to the “Edit my details” section.
While updating their details on the recruitment portal, all applicants are prompted to select their tribe on this page.
Online applications were necessary from all interested parties, and could be found under the Careers link at teachersonline.tsc.ke or on the official website, tsc.go.ke.

How teaching positionswere split
According to the findings of the study, the 20,990 available teaching positions were split between 36 of the 42 officially recognised tribes.
This indicates that six villages did not acquire even a single teaching position.
Following the completion of the recruiting process, 30,550 new teachers were hired to work at Junior Secondary Schools (JSS), while the remaining positions were filled in ordinary secondary schools.
