TSC Monthly Pay: Basic Salary and Allowances for JSS Interns.
In 2023, the government aims to hire 26,000 instructors as interns in Junior Secondary Schools (JSS). These teachers will receive generous pay and benefits, as well as permanent and pensionable job terms beginning July 1, 2024.
Many people are relieved to hear that these teachers’ modest pay was confirmed, since they had previously expressed concerns that it was insufficient to maintain their existing good level of living.
instructors working as JSS interns currently have a payment arrangement in place for Sh20,000 per month, while instructors in lower primary receive Sh15,000.
No monthly allowance or monthly health insurance plan is available to any of the contracted intern teachers.
However, those teachers were given permanent and pensionable job conditions after the more than two-week-long protest.
Given that most JSS interns have degrees or diplomas, their pay will be excellent.
Following confirmation, these instructors will begin at work group C2, which is the grade level equivalent of a senior primary school teacher.
The TSC compensation for Job category C2 ranges from approximately Sh34,955 to a maximum of Sh43,694 per month.
Teachers who are hired will receive an initial salary of Sh34,955, which will automatically increase after three years.
Teachers in Nairobi who work in employment category C2 are entitled to a housing allowance of Sh16,500 per month.
Teachers in large municipalities, however, will begin receiving a stipend of Sh12,800.
Teachers in smaller municipalities, however, will begin receiving a total of Sh9,600.
TSC will also provide a housing stipend of Sh7,500 per month to individuals residing in other areas.
A teacher is also entitled, by the commission, to a one-time payment of Sh6,000 as an annual stipend.
