TSC: New Pay & Benefits for Principals and Deputy Principals.
TSC Wages and Benefits Dedicated to principals and deputy principals. Teachers are encouraged to offer their skills since they get pay and benefits from the Teachers Service Commission (TSC).
Teachers must understand their salary scale, benefits, and any possible deductions from their pay.
In this piece, we will look at the salary and benefits of TSC’s job group D3, T-Scale 13 principals and deputy principals.
2021–2025 Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA)
A 2021–2025 CBA amendment was signed by the teachers’ unions Kenya Union of Post Primary Education Teachers (KUPPET), Kenya National Union of Teachers (KNUT), and Kenya Union of Special Needs Education Teachers (KUSNET) with the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) on August 28, 2023.
The teacher unions have been rendered silent and have no threat of a strike until this deal, which was reached, was a major step toward ending the continuous attempts to boost teacher compensation.
One of the major turning points was the adjustment to the pay scale for principals and deputy principals in job group D3.
Easy Ways to Convert Salaries
The table below shows how much the principals’ and deputy’s base pay have changed when they were originally hired.

TSC Salaries & Allowances For Principals & Deputy Principals
Hardship Allowances
These Allowances are a portion of the salary that the commission provides to educators who labor in hazardous environments, such as unstable locations. Principals and deputies employed in these regions are compensated with Ksh 31,500.
Commuter Allowance
Teachers receive this stipend to help with transportation costs from their homes to schools and return. This encourages educators to get out of bed and perform their tasks on time.
Ksh 10,000 is the sum that deputies and principals in Grade D3 are entitled to.
Disability Allowance
This allowance is available to educators who work with students who have special needs or teach in special schools. This payment is only available to teachers who have completed special education training.
Teachers in this D3 employment group are eligible for a Ksh 20,000 monthly payment. This is to show our gratitude for their time-consuming work with students who have special needs.
