TSC Provides A List Of Teachers Not Eligible For Promotion. In Kenya, hiring certified and registered teachers falls under the purview of the Teachers Service Commission.
Furthermore, the commission is in charge of assigning teachers to positions based on merit.
The commission has stated clearly what it intends to do for next promotions. According to the commission, teachers who do not sign up for the required Teacher Professional Development (TPD) will not be taken into consideration.
Many recognized institutions provide teachers with the opportunity to participate in the Teacher Professional Development Program.
The career progression guidelines (CPG) have undergone some modifications by the Teachers Service Commission.
In promotion interviews, the commission is typically guided by the professional development rules. Only instructors who have enrolled in the required training will be eligible for promotions, according to CPG revisions.

In December 2021, the commission unveiled the TPD modules. The turnout of teachers has been poor, nevertheless.
Consequently, if promotion chances become available, the commission has made it plain that it would not take into consideration teachers who have not enrolled.
Reintroduction of TPD Modules
In regards to that, the Teachers service commission has officially announced reintroduction of the modules beginning December 2024. It has so far invited interested institutions that qualify to offer the program . Invitations were sent in February 2024.
Upon verification and approval, these select institutions will start offering the program in December 2024. The trainings will be done during the school holidays.

Among the first institutions to be allowed to offer the program include;
- Riara University
- Kenyatta University
- Kenya Education Management Institute(KEMI)
- Mount Kenya University
The commission has indicated that before December 2024, more institutions will be allowed to offer the program to teachers.
A number of attempts were made to bar TSC from offering this program. However, it has been unsuccessful as TSC has been given a go ahead to offer the training.
In addition, the program has also been strongly supported by the Kenya kwanza government.
Teachers who first enrolled have so far been issued with a completion certificate and are now set to be considered for promotions
