TSC Requirements For Faster Pension Processing.
The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) always notifies all teachers who are about to clock the age of 60 years to start preparing for their retirement two years earlier. In some cases they may be given a short notice by the commission.
There are several things that these teachers need to start doing as soon as they receive the retirement notification. They include;
- Start submitting all the necessary documents that are listed in the notice
- They are required to submit their bank accounts on bank forms
- Make a decision whether to commute their pension up to a quarter.
- Verify and settle their tax obligations with the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA).
In order for a teacher to receive the Pension dues in good time, they must submit the following documents in good time;
- A clearance certificate from the teachers service commission dully completed.
- Copies of bank plates printed on both sides ( 2 Copies)
- Copies of the National Identity Card printed on both sides ( 2 Copies)
- Duplicate of completed option to commute pension form.
- A lump sum payment form ( bank form) dully completed.
- Copies of all promotion letters or certificates ( 2 Copies each)
- First payslip showing deductions for Women’s and Children’s Pension Scheme in case of male teachers.
- Those with differing names to provide marriage certificate or affidavit to verify the names for married teachers.
- For those who served as untrained teachers to submit their NSSF statements.
- KRA pin Certificate ( 2 Copies).
There has been stagnation in the processing of pension dues due to poor coordination between the National Treasury and the relevant departments that need to vanish the data of some teachers.
Therefore for teachers to receive their dues in good time, they need to provide the above documents in time to ensure that their pension is processed early so that by the time they are retiring they start to receive their pension dues almost immediately.
