TSC To Reimburse Teachers Whose Allowance Was Withheld Arrears.
TSC To Pay Retained Allowances To Listed Teachers. Members of the Departmental Committee on Education and representatives of the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) have met. It has been decided that all school administrators who have served in acting roles for a long time will receive their allowance arrears.
Among the significant groups accepting performing roles and receiving compensation from TSC are principals, head teachers, and acting deputies.
As stated by Honorable Julius Melly, a Tinderet member of parliament The chair of the Education committee expressed concern about the fact that most teachers in the country have worked in their current positions for a number of years in his statement to the TSC on the matter.
Melly said that filling in as an acting teacher for longer than a year is a severe problem and that it is unfortunate that most teachers have to cope with these kinds of situations.

Melly therefore asked the teachers service commission to consider giving the instructors more authority.
But Honorable Malulu Injendi, the Vice Chairperson of the Committee for this session, asked TSC to explain to her why teachers in acting roles aren’t paid for the extra work they perform.
TSC chairman Dr. Macharia responded to the previously mentioned allegation by acknowledging that TSC has in fact temporarily appointed administrators to schools. The nonpayment was the result of ignorance regarding financial constraints.
Macharia continued by saying that, among other things, the most crucial prerequisite for teacher advancements is the availability of funds.
In defense of her position, Macharia stated that the Commission has requested funding for the exercise from the government on several occasions. Unfortunately, because of existing financial limitations, it has been approved.
In order to compensate educators who are filling in for absentee teachers, Macharia agreed at this same meeting that the TSC had gotten in touch with the Salary and Remuneration Commission to approve the payment of Special Duty Allowance.
