TSC Confirms It Will Replace The Following Teachers. The teachers’ employer the Teachers service commission has laid down plans to replace teachers in acting capacity with promoted ones. The teachers, previously in acting capacity under administration who failed to get promotions will be replaced.
In reference to that, quite a big number of teachers are set for replacement. These are teachers holding administrative roles in schools. Among the teachers holding administrative roles to be replaced are ;
- senior teachers
- the senior masters,
- acting deputy head teachers
- the deputy acting principals,
- acting headteachers
- principals
The above mentioned teachers holding those positions in acting capacity and failed to clinch promotions will lose their positions.
In September 2023, the Teachers service commission advertised more than 36,000 promotional slots. Later on, after conclusion of interviews, the promotion list of over 740 pages was published. The promotion list had TSC numbers of successful teachers promoted from one job group to another.
The commission laid down plans to kickstart distribution of promotion letters to the successful teachers. The letters were made available at the county director’s office for picking and posting to new stations.
TSC Confirms It Will Replace The Following Teachers
Early this year, the Teachers service commission promoted several deputies. They were elevated to headteachers positions and principals positions across the country.
This promotions came at a critical time when the commission was facing mass retirement of school administrators. This created a huge gap in administrative roles in various schools across the country.
As the aforementioned transition was being handled, the commission instructed the county directors to ensure there is no vacuum felt. The promotion of teachers was done to fill the gaps left by the retired administrators.
TSC PROMOTION INTERVIEWS
In December 2023 and January 2024, TSC conducted a number of promotions across various job groups.
However, In December 2023, all promotions for primary school teachers were conducted.
Additionally, interviews for post primary education teachers took place in January 2024.
During that particular promotion exercise, a total of one hundred and fifty thousand teachers had been shortlisted for promotions. However, only 36,000 were promoted as others became unsuccessful .
During promotions there were mandatory documents required as stipulated in chapter six of the constitution.
The documents include;
- A Valid Certificate of Good Conduct.
- A valid clearance Certificate from the Higher Education Loans Board (HELB)
- Teacher Tax Compliance Certificate from Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA)
- Valid clearance Certificate from Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC)
- Valid Clearance Certificate from an approved Credit Reference Bureau (CRB)
