Teachers Compensation Scales 2024: In accordance with a signed CBA, the Compensation and Remuneration Commission (SRC) has finally decided to establish a three-phase escalation in teachers’ pay rise predictions, with the second phase beginning in 2024.
Some job groups were eliminated and others were consolidated as a result of the commission’s introduction of a revised grading system for in-service teachers by 2024.
There are currently several different TSC teacher job categories and salary levels that cover a wide range of positions, from the highest paying post at Chief Principals to the lowest paying one at Primary Teacher I.
Pay Scales for Teachers in 2024
The pay structure for TSC teachers in 2024 is scheduled to be implemented in two stages.
First compensation phase for 2024 begins on July 1, 2023; second compensation phase, which is reserved for active, on-duty instructors, is anticipated to begin on July 1, 2024.
It’s also significant that the TSC pays different titles according to different salary classes. These titles include Chief Principals, Senior Principals, Principals, Deputy Principals, Senior Masters, Lecturers, and teachers in other capacities.
Details have shown that the pay scale for TSC instructors varies, with Chief Principals making Ksh. 131,380 (which is a lot of money) to Ksh. 159,534 tl.
However, Primary Teachers II who are paid Ksh. 22,793 are probably going to be paid Ksh. 28,491.
Pay Scales for Teachers in 2024
In addition to other roles, the salary includes that of Senior Lecturers, Senior Masters, and Deputy Head Teachers.
Also take note of the commission’s additional provisions, which offer teachers compensatory and reimbursed allowances.Both of the compensatory allowances are paid by TSC as part of the monthly salary.
Teachers who apply are also eligible for reimbursable allowances, which are especially designed to cover per diem quotas and travel expenses.
The 2024 (CBA) phases will assist address the historical problem of teachers’ low compensation after they are fully implemented.
Primary and secondary school teachers are anticipated to gain much from this when it is fully implemented, and this is also in line with Kenya’s economic expansion.
