TSC’s Other Prohibited Courses and Their Effect on Teachers’ Careers.
With the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) outlawing certain degree programs in the arts and sciences, there is a need to influence the future of teaching and teacher education.
Many graduates have been compelled by the restriction to look for work elsewhere because they are unable to pursue careers in the education industry.
Through its examination and endorsement of bachelor’s degree programs provided in colleges and universities, TSC hopes to shape the education industry by maintaining its relevance.
The commission makes sure those who want to work as teachers have the abilities and information required to succeed in the classroom.
Nonetheless, a number of graduates who completed training in the now-banned courses have typically found themselves on the receiving end of their hopes to register with TSC and pursue a career as teachers.
All applicants who have training in disciplines that are not currently included in the curriculum are not eligible to be registered, according to the teacher’s employer.
Even if they participate in course enhancement or possess a Post Graduate Diploma in Education (PGDE), TSC does not permit them to register.
However, the Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement (KUCCPS) has cautioned incoming students to confirm the validity of their selected courses by referring to the most recent list of approved Bachelor courses.
They might be able to see the prohibited ones clearly thanks to this.
To clarify the necessary requirements, TSC offers guidelines for the registration of new teachers.
The courses banned are deemed to lack the necessary subject content, hence rendering the mastery of content in two teaching subjects inadequate for them to be approved..
