UoN will open an AI school and provide Kenya’s first AI Master’s degree.
The University of Nairobi intends to open a school of artificial intelligence as part of its efforts to produce future laborers with advanced degrees.
UoN Chancellor Prof. Patrick Verkooijen added, “The university will soon start offering the first-ever AI master’s degree,” during an interview on Citizen TV.
We are going to go with that because of its trajectory of economic growth. We also have the necessary resources. We have the top kids studying computer science and business entrepreneurship, and when we combine that with the innovation component, we have a solid foundation for the future, according to Verkooijen.
He went on to say that since AI will play a big role in the future, it is imperative that people have the skills necessary for these roles.
Verkooijen went on to say that the university intends to establish a Green Jobs Center, where it will provide climate change education.
According to him, the majority of professions in the future will revolve around environmental issues and climate change, thus educators must get students ready for this.
