Why TSC take away 200/- from all teachers June payslips.
After learning that sh 200 had vanished from their June 2024 salary, teachers are wailing. Most major banks have already paid their June salaries.
However, a large number of Saccos have not yet credited teachers’ accounts with their June salary. This year’s June salaries were delayed, in contrast to past years, and teachers became irate while they awaited their release.
Teachers Service Commission (TSC) typically pays teachers’ wages by June 20th. Teachers may receive their pay as early as June 18th. This is a result of June being the conclusion of the government fiscal year.
Teachers’ reactions this week are a result of a sh 200 decrease from their June paystubs. TSC has not yet released a statement regarding this vanishing.
However, sources close to the Commission claim that this was a mistake and that the money that was withheld will be reimbursed.
Some educators conjectured that this was a recurrence of the deductions made by the Kenya Women Teachers Association (Kewota), which resulted in the loss of sh 200 from the paystubs of both male and female teachers to a union they never joined.
There have been instances in the past where instructors’ monthly payslips were short a few pence. Teachers have frequently claimed differences in their net pay.
Once, TSC exposed a group of payroll employees who were deducting money without authorization from teachers’ paystubs and had to be moved to another department.
We hope that the Commission will handle this matter in a clear and concise manner in order to allay the concerns of teachers, particularly during a period of economic hardship marked by rising inflation and declining paychecks.
